The  Translation  Center  at  King  Saud  University  is  an administrative  entity  directly  affiliated with  the  Academic Council and the  Vice Rectorate  for Graduate  Studies and Research. The Center’s operations are overseen by officials and faculty members from various academic areas within the University.

In the Translation Center by laws, issued by the Academic Council, Article 2 stipulates:
The Translation Center, an independent body, shall meet the needs for textbooks, references, periodicals, research papers, and materials of official nature, as well as books of intellectual nature for Saudi society.

The Center strives to meet the following objectives:

1. Encourage faculty and staff to translate books, reference materials and research literature.
2. Promote and support the Arabization of academic materials, by standardizing, unifying, and disseminating academic terminologies.
3. Establish a schedule for the translation and/or Arabization of textbooks and reference materials needed at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
4. Translate major scholarly periodicals and pertinent research papers.
5. Translate valuable Arabic books and research into foreign languages.
6. Translate (into Arabic) classical scientific works whose Arabic originals no longer exist.
7. Compile dictionaries for specialized terminologies in collaboration with academic departments and similar institutions.
8. Develop computer applications for translation and terminology.

A) The Translation Center provides information for specialists and researchers inside and outside the University. These include translation, Arabization, terminology, and lexicography.

B) The Center extends the following services to translators from King Saud University:

1. For approved translation projects, the Center obtains the translation rights from publishers and pays the necessary royalties.
2. Provides translators with available references and dictionaries, and acquaints them with the latest terminology compilations in different specializations.
3. Provides translators with advice regarding various technical and procedural aspects of translation.
4. Assigns experienced experts to evaluate the translation and determine the merits of the translated works. When translations are approved, the center then recommends to the University its publication.
5. Pays the expenses for the original figures and diagrams necessary for the publication of the Arabic translation.

Location of the Center:

The Translation Center is located on the fifth floor of the University Center (Building 17), next to the University Administration Building.
