Translation Center
The Translation Center at King Saud University is an administrative entity directly affiliated with the Academic Council and the University Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research.
The Center’s administrative structure consists of a faculty member director and deputy director and a council of experienced members representing the different academic fields.
Objectives of the Center :
Article 2 of the center’s bylaws, issued by the Academic Council, stipulates:
The Translation Center, an independent body, seeks to meet the needs for textbooks, references, periodicals, research papers, and materials of official nature, as well as the needs of the Saudi society for useful intellectual books.”
The Center, therefore, exerts all efforts to achieve the following objectives:
1- To encourage the teaching staff to translate books, references and research.
2- To encourage and support the Arabization movement, and to coin standardize, unify, and disseminate terminologies.
3- To set a schedule for the translation and/or Arabization of textbooks and references for both undergraduate and graduate levels.
4- To translate major scholarly periodicals or pertinent research papers.
5- To translate valuable Arabic books and research into foreign languages.
6- To translate into Arabic classical scientific works whose Arabic originals were lost.
7- To compile dictionaries of specialized terminologies in collaboration with academic departments and similar institutions.
8- To develop computer applications in translation and terminology.
Services:
A- The Center provides information on various issues relating to translation, Arabization, terminology, and lexicography to specialists and researchers inside and outside the University.
B- The Center extends the following services to translators from King Saud University:
1- For approved translation projects, the Center obtains the translation rights from publishers and pays the necessary royalties.
2- Provides translators with the available references and dictionaries, and acquaints them with the latest terminology compilation in different specializations.
3- Provides translators with advice on various translation aspects.
4- Assigns experienced referees to evaluate the translation and the merits of the translated works. When the translation is approved, the center then recommends to the University its publication.
5- Pays all the expenses and charges for the original figures and diagrams necessary for the publication of the Arabic translation.

The Translation Center is located on the fifth floor of the University Center (Building 17), next to the University Administration Building.
