The Vice Rector for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research
The Scientific Council at King Saud University is one of the oldest Scientific Councils since its establishment in 1975. During that long period, the Council carried out numerous functions and tasks in accordance with the highest scientific and scientific standards followed by the universities of the advanced world.
The Council deals with numerous issues and tasks that were mentioned in detail in the standardized regulations issued by the Council of Higher Education. The main functions can be summed up in the recommendations issued by the Council with regard to decisions of faculty appointment, scientific promotion, scientific publishing, sabbatical leaves, attending scientific courses and using the services of part-time visiting professors as well as other relevant issues.
The Council consists of members who represent the various colleges of the university in accordance with Article (29) of the Code of Higher Education and Universities Council.
The nature of the Scientific Council's activities can be summed up in receiving the issues entrusted to it according to the university regulations from the university colleges, deanships and other units inside and outside the university. These issues are then referred to the Scientific Council's Standing Committees to be studied and a recommendation regarding them will then be raised to the Scientific Council. The following Standing Committees whose functions will be mentioned elsewhere in the website, spring from the Scientific Council:
1- The Standing Committee for Appointments
2- The Standing Committee for Promotions
3- The Standing Committee for Scientific Publication
4- The Standing Committee for Scientific Research
The Scientific Council's Secretariat schedules the recommendations of the committees and the rest of the other issues and raises them to the Scientific Council to take the relevant decisions and make recommendations with regard to them. After that, the proceeding of each Scientific Council's meeting is approved by the Rector of the University. Then the decisions taken by the Council are either implemented or the recommendations regarding are raised to the University Council.
The University Deanship for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research is fully aware of the importance of the University Electronic Gate content; therefore it created a website that represents the Scientific Council in order to achieve the following objectives:
