Upon the successful licensing of a certain technology, IPP will utilize 10-15% of the generated royalties to cover the cost of operations of the program, including legal and patent registration fees. The remaining funds (net royalties) would be distributed as follows:
· Inventor: 1/3 of net royalties.
· Academic Department: 1/3 of net royalties.
· College: 1/3 of net royalties.
During the first few years of IPP establishment, a higher percentage may be given to the inventor as an incentive for KSU personnel to focus on innovation.
Some of the advantages of this royalty management system are that it will help build advanced, well-equipped laboratories and that it will help colleges and departments attract highly qualified faculty members, students, technicians, and staff members.
