This program has received a kind consideration from the custodian of the two holy mosques who has donated for a number of research chairs in nanotechnology. This was also the case for his Royal Highness, the Crown Prince who has donated for a number of chairs in the areas of environment, water, and Islamic studies. Further, their highness, several princes in addition to business people, companies and organizations have also donated a number of research chairs in a variety of research fields.

The financial sources of research chairs are identified to be as follows:

1 - The donors of research chairs, provided that the minimum support is as specified below:

a - For individuals: two million Saudi Riyal (SR) for the first year and one million SR per year for the remaining period of the chair, given that this period must extend over a minimum of three additional years

b - For companies, banks, and organizations at large, four million SR for the first year and 2 million per year for the remaining period of the chair, given that this period must extend over a minimum of three additional years

2 - The lump-sum funding for a specified period which is to be agreed upon

3 - The funds allocated to research chairs from the university budget or the endowment

4 - The support allocated to research chairs from the high education funds

5 - Self financing, which is generated from the research chairs activities

6 - Donations, gifts, endowment.
