Prince Nayef Chair at King Saud University Holds a Seminar Titled "Towards an Accurate Definition of the Notion of Intellectual Security".

 

  A specialized workshop titled "Towards an Accurate Definition of the Notion of Intellectual Security" was held by Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Chair for Intellectual Security Studies, yesterday ( Tuesday 23/4/1429H, corresponding to 29/4/2008G), at the College of Education at King Saud University.

This was reported by Dr. Khaled bin Mansour Al Drees, Supervisor of Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Chair for Intellectual Security Studies, who declared that this Chair comes within the research and scientific programs recently launched by the University in the various domains of knowledge.

Dr. Al Drees added that the seminar discussed a number of  intellectual issues related to the activities of the Chair, and that the discussions centered around the Chair paper presented by Professor Dakheel bin Abdullah Dakheel-allah, the Chair's scientific committee member and professor of socio-psychology at King Saud University. Dr. Al Drees also reported that the contributions and the commentaries expressed by the participants to the seminar dealt mainly with the notion of intellectual security and the relationship between the intellect and the security, as well as with some of other equally important issues.

  The participants eventually came up with a number of ideas and suggestions that should help in launching the Chair's projects in the field of scientific research, training programs, and communication, in view of the importance of the intellectual security.

It is also worth mentioning that an important number of scholars and outstanding researchers in the field of social sciences took part in the workshop, among whom were: Professor Abdurrahman Al Tureeri, former Dean of the College of Education, Professor Abdurrahman Al Hadlaq, of King Fahd Security College, and Professor M'shari Al Naeem, Deputy-Dean of the College of Law and Political Sciences, just to name a few.

  On his part, Dr. Abdulmohsen Al Aqeeli, Director of the Research Chairs Program, referred in his talk to the importance and the role of Prince Nayef Chair in implementing the policy of the university and its aspiration to become a research institution that should open new horizons for excellence and creativity among its teaching staff members. He also referred to the notion of intellectual security in Islam and its implications.

At the end of the workshop, Dr. Al Drees highlighted the main points raised by the participants and declared that the Chair's activities will soon be officially inaugurated. He also expressed his thanks to the participants and invited them to take part in the Chair's future activities and programs.
