A Press Conference by the Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Chair for Intellectual Security Studies.

 

  His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Mansoor Al Drees, supervisor of Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Chair for Intellectual Security Studies held today a joint press conference with Dr. Abdelmohsen Al Aqeeli, Director of the Chairs Unit at King Saud University, on the occasion of the inauguration of Prince Nayef Chair next Saturday at the University's Main Hall.

Dr. Al Drees stated that this Chair is the result of a donation amounting five million Riyals made by His Royal Highness Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior. He added that the Chair is a research unit which belongs to King Saud University, and being specialized in the study of the kind of thoughts that threaten the security and stability of the society, it tries to carry out a series of activities centered around the elements that promote intellectual security and its sources of threat, using efficient scientific and systematic methods.

  Dr. Al Drees also mentioned that there are currently 65 research chairs at the University with a total budget of 340 million Riyals, then he referred to the goals behind the establishment of Prince Nayef Chair and the University's intention to implement these goals.

Dr. Al Drees then stated that the idea behind the Research Chairs Program comes in accordance with the University's awareness of its role in the service of society, and the role of scientific research as one of the most important assets of a durable development. He also explained that this role has always received the encouragement of His Royal Highness, Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz, for which he proposed the establishment of a research Chair for intellectual security studies. Dr. Al Drees also referred to the various activities of the Chair, among which the publication and the support of research and study papers in the domains of security studies, as well as the organization of programs, training courses, conferences, symposia, workshops, and the creation of a web-site for the Chair.
