Businessman Sheik Mohammad bin Hussein Al-Amudi funds a number of research chairs in the

areas of medicine, oil, gas, and hydraulics

 

His Excellency Dr. Al-Uthman thanks Sheik Al-Amudi on his generous donations

 

His Excellency the Rector of King Saud University Dr. Abdullah bin Abdurrahman Al-

Uthman signed today three contracts with Sheik Mohammad bin Hussein Al-Amudi to

 fund three research chairs in medicine, hydraulics, and oil.

On this occasion, His Excellency the Rector of the University expressed his thanks to and respect for Sheik Mohammad Al-Amudi, saying that, “This initiative comes in compliance with and as a fruit of the responsiveness of society to the ‘Research Chairs’ program launched lately by the University under the label, ‘Societal participation to build information society.’ This program met with generous support from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and His Heir to the Throne His Kingly Highness, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, may Allah protect them. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques donated from his private money SR12M to support nanotechnology while His Heir to the Throne His Kingly Highness, Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, was committed to funding numerous research chairs. 

Dr. Al-Uthman added, “This program is one of the main tools that contributes in materializing the University’s futuristic vision, and the University must keep abreast with this development, and show effective participation with the private sector.” 

On the other hand, Vice Rector to the Affairs of Branches and responsible for “Research Chairs,” His Excellence Dr. Ali Ghamdi expressed his thanks and gratitude to Sheik Mohammad Al-Amudi for his kind initiative, which is considered one of the most important contributions towards the Saudi universities’ futuristic vision, which, in turn, participates in the materialization of strategic national goals. He also added, “We at the University aspire to achieve distinction and excellence in all branches of scientific research.”  

His Excellence explained, “The ‘Research Chairs’ Program aims at contributing to the Kingdom’s occupying a distinguished international reputation in the fields of excellence, creativity, research, and development in support of a national economy based on knowledge. It also aims at making the University participate in durable development, and targeting some of the best local and international researchers in various disciplines, ensuring maximum benefit from their expertise, and training the various national competencies.
