His Highness Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan’s Initiative to Create a Chair for Water Research Enhances the “Research Chair” Program Strategy at King Saud University
His Excellency the King Saud University Rector, Professor Abdullah Ibn Abdurrahman Al Othman, expressed his deep gratitude to His Highness Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan Ibn Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and General Inspector – may Allah preserve him – for his generous initiative to create Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan’s Chair for Water Research and for volunteering to fund it out of his belief in the role of King Saud University in finding practical solutions for social problems, notably the water issue in the Kingdom.
Dr. Al Othman added that the initiative of His Highness Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan – may Allah preserve him – comes in the context of supporting the project of the “Research Chairs” Program recently launched by the university, and which shall contribute to the support of the government policies and plans. Professor Al Othman pointed out that the project embodies the new policy adopted by the university and which is based on scientific research and aims at opening up new horizons for faculty members at the university to achieve further creativity and excellence. In addition, “Research Chairs” are considered instrumental towards realizing the prospective vision for the university in keeping up with the on-going scientific progress and in accomplishing international, scientific leadership so as to secure for the Kingdom a respected position among industrialized nations in the world.
Dr. Al Othman concluded his declaration by stating that Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan’s Chair for Water Research is a valuable addition within the Research Chairs Program, which was also honored by the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques – may Allah preserve him. He pointed out that the current university policy is focused on scientific research and the opening up of new horizons for faculty members at the university to achieve creativity and excellence both locally and internationally, and that the Chairs Program is one of the main tools to accomplish that.
