On Behalf of His Highness the Crown Prince

 His Highness Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan Signs a Contract for the Creation

 of Prince Sultan’s Chair for Environmental Research

 

On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Ibn Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation, General  Inspector and Honorary President of the Saudi Society of Wild Life Sciences, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan Ibn Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Defense and Aviation and
General Inspector for Military Affairs signed in his 'Al Maathar' office yesterday with the King Saud University Rector, Dr. Abdullah Ibn Abdurrahman Al Othman a contract for the creation and funding of Prince Sultan’s Chair for Environmental and Wild Life Research. 

 The Chair is aimed at accomplishing the following:    Encouraging research that is primarily concerned with wild life preservation  Strengthening scientific collaboration among specialists in the field of environmental sciences and wild life biology  Training qualified staff  Providing government and private institutions with expertise and consultation  Organizing training courses, work sessions, meetings and lectures for researchers and specialists in the field  Upon this occasion, His Highness Prince Khalid Ibn Sultan Ibn Abdulaziz received a souvenir gift from the King Saud University Rector.  The signing ceremony was attended by the University Deputy Rector, Dr. Ali Ibn Saeed Al Ghamdi and a number of the Chair Committee members.  His Excellency the University Rector, Dr. Al Othman expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Ibn Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Aviation and General  Inspector – may Allah Preserve him – for his generous initiative to create and fund Prince Sultan’s Chair for Environmental and Wild Life Research.  The Crown Prince's support comes out of his belief in the University’s role in working out practical solutions for social problems, notably those of the environment and wild life, which represent an issue of prime interest to His Highness .  Al Othman added that “the initiative of His Royal Highness –may Allah preserve him – comes in the context of the efforts being made to enhance the university’s recently launched project for the creation of research chairs.  In addition to the fact that the Research Chairs Program embodies the university’s newly adopted policy, which is focused on scientific research and encouraging faculty members towards achieving further excellence and creativity, it shall ultimately contribute to the corroboration of the government’s prospective plans and strategies.  In fact, such a program is instrumental towards attaining the university’s prospective vision of keeping pace with scientific development and accomplishing international leadership in order to secure for the Kingdom, with the support of the
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince (may Allah preserve them), a scientific reputation similar to the one in developed countries.  The Deputy Rector for Branches Affairs and Chairman of the Research Chairs Program, Dr. Ali Ibn Saeed Al Ghamdi commended the generous support of His Highness the Crown Prince –may Allah preserve him – for the Program.  Dr. Al Ghamdi added that Prince Sultan Ibn Abdulaziz’s Chair for research on the Environment and Wild Life shall
represent an opportunity for assimilating a number of modern techniques that could be used in research on the environment and wild life.  The Chair shall undertake to possess the best of techniques and equipment that would enable researchers to conduct specialized studies in our local environment.  From his part, Dr. Ibrahim Ibn Abdelwahid Aref, Chairman of the Administrative Board of the Saudi Biological Society, expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Ibn Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince, for his consent to create the Chair and for his continued support for the Society.
