On Sunday, 24/1/1431 H, the Vice President of Educational and AcademicAffairs, Dr. Abdullah bin Salman Al-Salman, attended a workshop for evaluating the performance of the Consulting Committee for the Colleges and Institutes Deans Selection. The workshop was held in Al-Maqsurah Rest House.
On this occasion, Dr. Al-Salman talks to the University Newsletter saying: "This Consulting Committee for selecting Deans for colleges and institutes was established by a decision issued by HE the Rector. This committee does its work perfectly. I am happy to attend and hear the valuable suggestions of our invited colleagues, whether they were ex-deans, nominated deans interviewed by the Committee, or current deans. This enrich the objectives, the mission and methods of assessing and selecting college deans". "The nomination process in direct elections for selecting deans" he continued, "has negative aspects and it doomed failure even in some developed universities. So, it is not necessarily that the model of direct free elections is the best model for the selection of college deans or department chairmen. The workshop went well as planned. I thank the organizers of this workshop, especially, Dr. Abdul Rahman Abu-Immah the Committee Chairman".
