 Dean's Message

King Saud University is currently undertaking a massive program of rejuvenation and reform, in almost every aspect of its academic life that would hopefully transform into an internationally renowned university. The Deanship of Graduate Studies is at the forefront of these endeavors and a major driving force towards achieving them. The task it shoulders in promoting and expanding graduates programs, increasing the numbers of students enrolled in them, and overcoming numerous hurdles along the way, are phenomenal; it would have been impossible to pursue these tasks without encouragement and support from the University's authorities.

The role of the Deanship of Graduate Studies as a promoter of graduate research, qualitatively and quantitatively, is inseparable from that of Colleges and Departments throughout the University. The Deanship overlooks all Master and Ph.D. programs in the University; its approves, evaluates and constantly revises and coordinates the programs. The number of programs looked over by the Deanship of Graduate Studies up to the end of the programs of the 2006/2007 (1427-1428H) academic year totals 95; these comprises 31 Ph.D. programs in 77 specialties, and 64 MSc. programs in over 170 specialties. The total numbers of individuals graduating in these programs are nearly 4500 male and female students.

In it's strive to fulfill its aspiration of reaching a high and competitive standard of postgraduate research, the Deanship continues to look forward for the support of the University's administration and faculty.

Prof. M. A. Alshaikh

Dean of Graduate Studies
