Quality is - surely - considered as a prime requirement in higher education to which all universities strive to achieve; this is because it is through quality that they achieve high ranks within the list of distinguished and esteemed international universities and institutions.
Naturally a number of distinguished universities - spread around the world - endeavor to apply advanced quality techniques to improve on their faculty performance and guarantee the quality of their throughput.
It is worth noting, however, that – in realization of this role –King Saud University
has stressed on 'quality' in evaluation and academic accreditation and has undertaken a number of leading projects –to name a few for example the Project of Academic Performance Evaluation as well as recently directing colleges and supportive deanships to set strategic and future plans for this purpose.
In view of the awareness the university administration of the leading role their university should play among its international counterparts, it has taken to itself
to adopt applying 'quality' in its comprehensive sense so that KSU can survive the fierce international competition of reputed and high ranking universities and other institutions for an advanced position.
In the light of the above and in recognition of the role played by quality in the placement of the university among others, KSU has established an administration for quality entrusted with applying quality measures in all university units.
Needless to say that will naturally lead to the fulfillment of the real community needs as well as improving performance across the university.
This will lead to advanced and sophisticated systems capable of identifying and determining the best ways and means of optimally fulfilling a task; that is to say the best way of doing a job taking into account quality and efficiency considerations.
This will also lead to the best ways and means of performance assessment and evaluation as well as improving means of internal and external communication.
Due to the size of work with which the quality administration is entrusted in addition to pursuing and following up quality units spread across the university - ranging from colleges, deanships, hospitals and general administrations in addition to female sections as well as coordination with related bodies outside the university, it is considered important to put all these administrations under one umbrella to undertake these responsibilities.
Accordingly a suggestion for the establishment of a deanship for quality came into being.
