Introduction

Universities and institutes are always concerned and obliged to know their real and actual status among other international higher educational institutions. Such task is difficult to achieve and need to be reliable and trustworthy.

Nowadays many international organizations are executing and announcing different ranking systems where they look into different sets of criteria and give different weight for each criterion.

In order to achieve the maximum benefit the ranking systems must be used as a driving force for development and success not for labeling universities. Thus, universities and institutes need to appreciate and utilize the ranking systems to improve their performance in both education and research.

Therefore, King Saud University is hosting this workshop to enlighten and inspire regional universities to explore and know more about ranking systems directly from the ranking experts.
