The kind patronization and the cabinet’s appraisal left deep impression on the university male and female employees and we have no excuse not being to creative and outstanding.
The Board of King Saud University extended the deepest thanks and appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz - may God protect him - for patronizing the ceremony for laying of the foundation stone of a number of construction and strategic projects for the University on last Sunday. This was stated by the Rector of the University, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman Al Othman after chairing the fifth meeting of the University Board on Sunday, 20 Safar 1430. He said that the Board began its session by expressing its great gratitude to the leader of the nation, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince - pointing out that the event of laying the foundation stone of the strategic projects constitutes a historic turning point in the history of this university and reflects connotations and implications of the wide attention and great keenness enjoyed by the higher education in the Kingdom from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince. He stressed that the event reflected deep feelings among all male and female staff of the University and that there is no doubt that the university’s receiving of the King left great impression in the hearts of everyone. He also stressed that the University Board recorded in its meeting that historical gesture of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince by supporting the university with huge projects valued at more than a 14 billion riyals, and by coming to lay the foundation stone.
He said that the university appreciates with great gratitude the fact that Cabinet referred, in its last Monday meeting chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, to the King’s patronization of the inauguration ceremony. He affirmed the appreciation of the members of the University Board to the expressive words mentioned in the Cabinet’s appraisal notes and the cabinet’s confirmation that these projects symbolize the "support extended to education, science and technology, knowledge and creativity in the Kingdom, to serve the development of the community, its competitiveness and the future of its economy.
He stated that the University Board also noted the strategic role of SABIC in supporting research and development in Saudi universities, including King Saud University, in connection with setting up of a SABIC centre for Development of Plastic Applications at a total amount of 375 million riyals in Riyadh Techno Valley. The Board also noted the pioneering role of businessmen in extending donations to the university endowments project, which amounted to more than 950 million riyals.
Concluding his statement, the Rector of the University affirmed that this kind patronization by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz would make everyone shoulder the responsibility of work and dedication to achieve an effective contribution to the development of the country and the overall reform process, led by King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and that the response of the university male and female staff will be only through achievements to be registered in the name of the country in all research and scientific fields. He stressed that there would be no excuse for the university staff not to innovate and be outstanding.
