Electronic Microscope Unit
the Central Laboratory This unit is considered one of the most important units in the field of scientific research, providing advanced technology, research services and assistance to MA and PHD students as well as faculty members from within and outside the university. It also establishes introducing and training courses for postgraduate students and technicians of science and scientific and medical studies with proving an advice plus an expertise in sampling tissues and training in using the unit's equipments.
The unit moreover supports modern specialized scientific lectures in the same area. With the help of God, the university administration has provided to the unity of the electronic microscope two recent equipments; one of them is a transmission electronic microscope which depends on the permeability of electrons through the thin sectors that were prepared from biological tissues to be given two-dimensional images, and the other one is a scanning electronic microscope which depends on a reversal electrons from the surface of the biological and non-biological tissues to give three-dimensional images.
The Unit includes 3 main sections: * A section contains an electronic Japanese-made microscope of the type JEOL-JSM-1011 device and Ultra-microtome’s hat is specialized to slice accurately textile sectors, in addition to the preparation of the Glass Knife maker device. * A section contains a scanning electronic Japanese-made microscope of the type - JSM-6060 LV JEOL, and the device that covers the tissues with gold, platinum or carbon. * A special section of chemical operations to prepare the tissues automatically by Tissue Processing. Also it includes a refrigerator for keeping chemicals and the accurately sensitive balances and centrifuges ovens that are necessary for the unit.
1-Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) It is used to examine and duplicate the slices that are prepared of tissue for study regarding the exact construction of the cells. The device is made by the Japanese company JEOL, the type of JEM-1011, with a special camera to transmit images from the viewing screen to the computer where you can control the accuracy and quality of images in terms of light and discrepancy, and then printing the images. Furthermore, it has a High resolution power to 600.000 × zoom and voltage power up to the operation of the 100Kv. Thus, the system serves a wide range of specialists in biological studies.
2-Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) It is used to examine the samples' surfaces through a three-dimensional stereoscopic image, with the possibility of sampling tissues without coverage by electrical components of the non-biological tissues. The device is made by the Japanese company, JEOL, and a type of JSM-6060LV; it is equipped with a computer in order to control the degree of focusing, light and discrepancy, with a power to 300.000 × zoom. It is actually used for examining biological tissues (animal - plant - microorganisms), as well as non-biological tissues.
