Dr. Entesar Al-Suhaibani Wins KITA Award

King Saud University scores a new achievement outside the boundaries of the kingdom by an invention presented by Prof. Dr. Entsar bint Sulaiman Al-Suhaibani, a lecturer at the Faculty of Sciences. The invention, entitled ‘Chromosome of sister chromatid exchanges’ has won two international awards, one from Korea International Trade Association (KITA). The other award came when it was selected amongst the other prominent inventions participating in various fields to win the silver medal of the Women's Invention Exposition.

This came during the participation of Dr. Al-Suhaibani in the activities of Korea International Women's Invention Exposition 2009 (KIWIE2009), which was held from 1 to May 4, 2009 in the Korean capital, Seoul.

This was stated by the supervisor on the program of intellectual property and technology licensing of King Saud University, Dr. Khaled bin Saad Al-Saleh. “ Dr. Al-Suhaibani participated in the activities of the associated symposium on intellectual property rights and international marketing of inventions, organized by the Korean Intellectual Property Office(KIPO) and sponsored by the Property World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The flag of Saudi Arabia was raised high for four days, accompanied by the flags of 35 countries participating with 430 inventions”, Added Dr. Al-Saleh.

This global achievement of Dr. Al-Suhaibani comes as a result of the great attention and care of The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness, The Crown Prince and His Royal Highness, The Second Deputy, God save them, given to higher education in general and the King Saud University in particular and emphasizing on what women in our kingdom get of special care leading them to compete in such global events.

It is noteworthy that this victory to Her Excellency Dr. Al-Suhaibani is her second victory this year. She has already won the gold medal at the Geneva International Conference about a month ago. The program of intellectual property, taking the agency of knowledge exchange and technology transfer, does great efforts in highlighting the university activities in the fields of creativity and new cerebration.
