Dr. Aaliyah Shuaib obtains the award of the university director for
Teaching Excellence
Professor Aaliyah Abdul Baqi Shuaib, the lecturer in the Department of Botany and Microbiology, College of Science has been awarded the prize of the University Director Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Othman for Teaching Excellence for the present academic year of 1429-1430.
On this distinctive occasion, Professor Aaliyah expressed her profound thanks and appreciation to the University Director for his trust and support, which all staff members of the King Saud University feel. She affirmed that the award was one of the most important achievements in her career, and that it would remain as a great mark in her scientific and career march and as a source of personal pride. She stressed that this valuable award is a prize for all staff members of Department of Botany and Microbiology and the College of Science.
For her part, Dr. Najat Bukhari, the Deputy Head of the Department of Botany and Microbiology expressed her happiness for this great achievement that was made in the name of the Department. She extended her heartfelt thanks for the confidence of the University Director and his continuous support, noting that Dr. Aaliyah deserves this high level award. While Dr. Amal Al Hazzani, the Deputy Dean of the College of Science also expressed her great appreciation to the University Director, who gives the University employees every day an incentive for progress and a reason to expand the scope of their ambitions. She commended the award winner, noting that Dr. Aaliyah Shuaib is one of the most efficient staff members of the Department of Botany and Microbiology, as she provided, in addition to teaching excellence, genuine research that contributed to the enrichment of the scientific arena. Dr. Al Hazzani also noted that the College of Science is rich with innovators in various research and education areas, and that she expects that the academic community will hear from time to time that one of the faculty members wins a prestigious award at this level.
It is noteworthy that Dr. Aaliyah Shuaib is a professor in the specialization of bacteria in the Department of Botany and Microbiology and has distinguished research in this area. In addition she is one of the authors of the Bacteriology book, which is regarded as a basic reference in this part of science. Dr. Aaliya is also a member of several international specialized scientific journals and supervised several distinguished academic thesis, like her supervision of a Master thesis on the use of camel urine as anti element for some types of bacteria pathogenic to humans. This research has yielded promising results and the work is still in progress to this day.
