The Center of Science and Medical Studies Departments hosts the Women's
Cultural Center of the Deaf

On the occasion of the (34th) Deaf Awareness Week, the Women's Cultural Center of the Deaf held on Sunday 8/5/1430 a ceremony and a special program for the deaf, in collaboration with the Science and Medical Studies departments, from 10:00 am to 01:30 pm in the presence of the Centre’s supervisor Dr. Amal Fattani, the former supervisor Dr Fatimah Jamjoum, a large number of faculty members, university employees and female students. The ceremony program, which was presented by Nadia Al Shabrami and the sign language translator Haifa Al Maliki, began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Nada al-Ghamdi, a hearing impaired student with a sign language translation
by Noura Al Sahali.

Then Dr. Khairiyah Abdel-Jawad Associate Professor of Audio Diseases in the Faculty of Medical Sciences of King Saud University delivered a speech, s followed by two other speeches by Dr. Amal Bint Jamil Fattani, the Supervisor of the Center of Science and Medical Studies Departments and by the Chairperson of the Women's Cultural Centre for the Deaf Noura Al Mishari. Then the general supervisor of the donations, Jamielah Al Qadi spoke about how to change the view of the society towards the disabled people "and how to respect the talented and creative ones. This was followed by the speech of Vice-Chairperson of the Deaf Center, Najla Al Dahammi, who spoke about her personal experience.

Then Sarah Al Ajmi, a poet who is a hearing impaired student at the Arab Open University presented a prose poem entitled (today is your day, you deaf). After that, Hissa Aquili Afaf Al Harbi, Afnan Al Ammar, Asiah Al Ammar, Siham Al-Qahtani, Loulwa Al Qahtani, Wafa, Huda and Hanan Al Sa’idi, Manar Al Khamashi and Huda Mahiaa presented a theatrical play entitled "How the Community Deals with the deaf,". The play was produced by Hissa Al Fuhaid and Sadrah Al Khamis. At the end of the ceremony honouring shields were presented to Dr. Amal Fattani and Dr. Fatimah Jamjum for attending the ceremony. Dr. Nawal Al Arfaj and those who participated in the organization were also honoured. The ceremony coincided with a plastic arts and pottery exhibition produced by the hearing impaired artists: Hanan Al Anazi, Abeer Al Fadaghi, Azizah Al Shihri and Jamielah Al Qadi. It is noteworthy that the female sign language translators are: Lateefa Al Fuhaid, Noura Al Sahali, Haifa Al Maliki and students Huda Al-Sa’idi and Hanan Al Sa’di from the King Saud University University, Department of Business Administration.
