E-learning is a method of education by using information and communication technologies to achieve learning objectives effectively. The e-learning and distance education constitute a basic source of university education and continuing education. The need for this type of education has increased with the increase of the numbers of those who wish to enroll in tertiary education to an extent exceeding the capacity of the universities. Therefore, it has become necessary to find a party interested in the development of e-learning systems and its standards at the university level, and in planning to find e-learning programs in coordination with relevant parties in the university
The importance of e-learning at the university level is based on a number of grounds, mainly:
• Addressing the steady increase in the numbers of those wishing to obtain a university education
• The existence of various sources to obtain knowledge and their fast growth.
• The ability of modern communication and information technology to spread knowledge among educated people, by several ways.
• Adoption of the principle of lifelong learning and self-education


The Deanship Objectives

The deanship seeks through coordination with the relevant authorities to achieve the following objectives:
• develop a strategic plan for e-learning programs at the university.
• create a suitable environment to promote e-learning applications.
• Develop technical and regulatory standards for e-learning applications at the university level.
• to Coordinate between the faculties of the university and its departments with respect to plans and programs of e-learning and distance education.
• to provide technical and human support to the teaching staff in the field of technical skills development.
• to provide of technical and human support to the teaching staff in the field of in the field of electronic syllabus digital content development.
• to supervision the e-learning and distance education systems in coordination with relevant authorities.
• to consolidate the cooperation with e-learning and distance education institutions both internally and externally in line with the Deanship objectives
