The Emergence of the department:
The Accounting Department was established with the establishment of the College of Business Administration (formerly College of Administrative Sciences), in the year of 1379/1380 corresponding to 1959/1960. It is thus considered as the oldest department of accounting in Saudi Arabia. The Department aims primarily to give a bachelor's degree, master's and doctoral degrees in accounting for both male and female students. The department serves the community through active participation in the development of accounting and auditing profession in the Kingdom. It has been undertaking since twenty-five years ago the role of leadership for development of accounting and auditing profession in the Kingdom
It has been noticed that the Accounting Department had taken over in the past 25 years the lead in serving the community by organizing eleven symposiums, all focused on ways to develop accounting and auditing profession in the Kingdom to keep pace with the economic progress in our country in all fields. These seminars have contributed significantly to the development of accounting and auditing profession in the Kingdom through the recommendations of the Symposiums for establishment of the Saudi Society of Accounting in 1401 and then the establishment of the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants in 1412
