King Abdul Aziz University Hospital

The first teaching hospital in Saudi Arabia was founded by His Royal Highness Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz in 1375H (1955) under the name Prince Talal bin Abdul Aziz Hospital, and in the year 1380H (1960) its management was transferred to the Ministry of Health, and then its ownership was transferred to King Saud University in 2/12/1393H corresponding to 26 / 12/1973 and it started to serve as a teaching hospital in 1395H (1975). Its current clinical capacity is 104 beds for the academic specialties of ear, nose and throat and eye diseases and diabetes patients

The Health Unit

The Health Unit is located in the University Studies Center for Girls in "Elaishah" almost in the middle of the Center in building (13). This is regarded as a vital position in terms of the importance of its presence in the middle of the Center and the ability of all students to reach it to it without trouble.
It includes the doctors' room which is designed to examine patients and it is supplied with the necessary medical equipment, a rest hall for patients containing three beds for patients to take rest after the medical examination- if required. It also includes the pharmacy which is supplied with the necessary pharmaceutical drugs to be given to patients and a dressing room for primary wounds and burns and it is used as an office at the same time for the nurse and the secretary.

The Female Doctors:
Female doctors come on a rotation basis from the King Abdul Aziz University Hospital for one month for each doctor. They are:
1 - Dr. Hajir Al Amin (Sudanese).
2 - Dr Muna Abdul Aziz (Egyptian).
3 - Dr. Nada Kosah (Syrian).
4 - Dr. Fa'iqah Al Tayeb (Sudanese).

Secretary of the Unit:
There is one full time secretary for the Health Unit
Hanan Al Habshan, telephone number 4354400 Ext. (2337).
The nurse of the Unit is also full timer
Khairiyah Manoufi Ext No (2337).

Pharmacists:
It is also on a monthly rotation basis from King Abdul Aziz University hospital:
1 - Pharmacist Zubaidah Alquwizani
2 - Pharmacist Hanan al-Mutairi.
3 - Pharmacist Ghadah Al Amin.

The provided medical services:
1 - Medical examination and necessary treatment for the University students, employees and faculty members.
2 - Referral of the illness cases which can not be cured at the Health Unit to the university hospitals to complete the medical tests and then to be followed up by the Health Unit doctors in accordance with the medical reports issued from the hospitals.
3 - Follow-up the emergency cases and providing of the necessary treatment.
4 - Referral of emergency cases to other hospitals if the treatment is not available in the unit.
5 - Preparation and delivery of medicines to patients by the pharmacist with health education on the use of drugs.
It also prepares the needs of the health unit for drugs and medical supplies by making requests to get the materials and follow up the requests with the Medical Supply Section of the Department of Medical Services in the King Abdul Aziz University Hospital.
 

Field Programs
There are no separate health programs implemented by the Health Unit, but there are programs in coordination with the University Activity Department "such as blood donation campaigns”. However, there are health awareness brochures and publications on common diseases, for example, and on prevention of some seasonal diseases.

Referral Forms
There are several referral forms, namely:
1 – A referral form to specialist clinics (copy attached). This form is used in the case of referring a patient from the Health Unit to King Abdul Aziz University Hospital (form No. 1).
2 – Referral form King Abdul Aziz University Hospital to other government hospitals. This type of referral is used in case of referring a patient from the Health Unit to a hospital outside the King Abdul Aziz University Hospital (form No. 2).
3 - There is also a draft preliminary medical report which describes the health condition of the patient (form No. 3).
4 - There is also a visit certificate of the Health Unit of the Centre which the female students can present to the lecturer if she comes late for the lecture (form No. 4).
5 – A medical exit form used for emergency cases in a limited manner in the case of the existence of an emergency which requires that a student should leave before the departure time. It is to be given to the student to hand it to the security official in order to allow her to leave.
