Acwapower Research Chair Story
The King Saud University (KSU) signed an agreement on establishment of Acwapower Research Chair in 2006 with the Acwapower Company.
The Acwapower chair mission is to conduct researches on water and power, to harness technology in water desalination and drainage water treatment, and to give consultations coping with Saudi Arabia water needs.
The chair objectives run as follows:
- identify the national and regional role of nations concerned to desalinate water and drainage water treatment;
- reach integration with national and international water centers;
- assess the current ways of water desalination;
- improve water treatment technologies;
- support postgraduate to conduct higher studies on the chair activities.
The Acwapower chair is to hold a number of workshops and training sessions, the foremost of which are:
- Membrane water desalination technologies;
- Thermal water desalination technologies;
- Nanotech water desalination membranes;
- Modern developments in water desalination.
The chair professor is Prof. Dr. William Thomas Hanbury and Dr. Corrado Sommariva from Mott MacDonald Company in Britain, is one of the chair experts.
