KSU Mission

KSU Mission

By Dr. Maady Al-Madh-hab

Strategic planning raises a number of questions when a project mission is written up. The questions are: Who are we? Why are we here? How to offer the service to the beneficiaries? How could we be different?

The questions are short, yet, their answers need studies be conducted, collective work be undertaken and transparency be shown by whoever cares about the university.

This is why missions and visions take long time to be written. A researcher might think that all universities have nearly the same missions and visions. This is attributed to the fact that they are all institutions caring of teaching, conducting researches and serving the community. Yet, strategic planning focuses on answering a question: which of the institution’s spheres should be targeted? If answered, a question on the way that makes the university be different and distinctive should be adopted.

Months of strenuous work are consumed just to write two sentences: vision and mission. They are short, but, important and meaningful. They are distinctive since they are believed in.

You can sense mission and vision in the collogue talk; official and unofficial meetings; and lectures. They reflect the hustle and bustle running on campus which has rendered the university into a big workshop seeking serving the community.
