Honorary PhD to King Abdullah


H.M. King Abdullah bin Abdul-Aziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, received an honorary PhD from the King Saud University (KSU), in a ceremony held at the Royal Court last Tuesday.
In a speech on the occasion, H.E. Professor Dr. Khalid Al-Angary, Minister of Higher Education, voiced happiness to meet with the king. He praised the efforts exerted by H.M. King Abdullah Abdul-Aziz in upgrading the higher education process. He said, "The crystal clear support to the higher education and its institutions nationwide and gives students an opportunity to learn, major, and contribute to development plans."
On the achievements by H.M. king Abdullah, Al-Angary said, "The scholarship program, named after you, witnesses an unprecedented leap. It gives opportunity to a large number of our students know the sciences of various nations. Your Majesty has established King Abdullah University of Sciences and Technology to be an international minaret of knowledge. Your Majesty has funded research chairs and institutes in various fields of sciences like nanotech. Your Majesty has made incentives to faculty members; the most motivating element in development process. This exhorts them to achieve a number of goals and encourage delving into rare majors. "
"The KSU appreciates your attention and support and awards upon Your Majesty the degree of honorary PhD, and appreciates you have accepted it from this time-honored university, " Al-Angary concluded.
H.E. Professor Dr. Abdullah Al-Osman, the KSU president, gave a speech on the occasion, saying, "The KSU council is honored to grant the degree of honorary PhD to Your Majesty out of appreciating your contribution to the higher education sector."
Enumerating H.M. support to the KSU, Al-Osman said, "Your Majesty have bestowed the King Abdul-Aziz Excellence and first Order medal upon number of faculty members; established King Abdullah University of Sciences and Technology; earmarked 10 billion riyals for constructing the University City for Girls; and turned the university hospitals into an integrated medical city."
"Your Majesty acceptance means efforts should be more strenuous to achieve the KSU objectives, realizing the volume of responsibility ensuing of this honorary degree. It shall never stop achieving things drawing your pleasure up till the brilliant image you have been looking for. This is the least the KSU can do for a great personality that has been making higher education the prime priority.”
Dr. al-Jazy Al-Shebaiky, dean of Girl University Center, voiced happiness for meeting with King Abdullah. She prayed Allah Almighty to render the university study for girls to be set up a source of knowledge for female higher education radiation.
Finally, Al-Angary and Al-Osman conferred on the king the university’s medal, sash and gown. H. M. received a booklet from Dr. Amal Fatany, ht directress general of medical Sciences and Studies. Dr Al-Shebaiky presented two plaques to the King on behalf of the she-students on campus.
