A Caricaturist

Dr. Ali AlKarni
Editor-in-Chief
Colleague Abdullah Al-Ziyab, a senior and a caricaturist in Resalah newspaper. He joined the work team since the new development introduced into Resalah newspaper started. Frankly speaking, his caricatures are extremely excellent. I think that he might leave us someday and join one of the biggest newspapers in Saudi Arabia.
Caricaturists are highly appreciated and well paid in our newspapers. This is why, a Saudi caricaturist might receive 70.000 riyals ($18.666) per month.
Al-Ziyab makes us anxious in Resalah newspaper, particularly Mr. Sami Al-Dakhil, Sr. editor. We are awaiting for his drawings to think long and hard about them. You know caricature drawers like to elude censorship. As censors, we might cross out a caricature; change another a caption, etc.
Al-Ziyab is from Al-Dalam city, which he cherishes. Sometimes, he writes its name up in his drawings to draw attention towards it on campus.
Two weeks ago, Resalah published a drawing showing a student winning a scholarship to Riyadh (may be admitted to King Saud University). Some countrymen of Al-Dalam expressed dissatisfaction, and I do apologize for them. If I had I changed Al-Dalam, I would have put my native town on the caricature.
