NCYR is Pioneer in Giving Solutions to Youth Problems: Official

 

The National Center for Youth Researches target more than 5.484.493 youngsters; 30 % of Saudi populations,  said Dr. Saleh Al-Nasar, the secretary-general of NCYR.

Resalah: Why was the (NCYR) set up?

An-Nasar: To comprehend the increasing number of youth Saudi-wide. Statistics show that the 80 % of Saudi population is less than 39 years old according to Ministry of Economy and Planning in 2008. The youth are between 15-29 years old; they are 30% of the youth bracket.

 

Resalah: What are the (NCYR) objectives?

An-Nasar: Conducting studies, researches, and polls on the social and psychological issues of youth and submitting proposals and recommendations to promote stature of youth. In addition to, tackling youth problems by specialists and identifying  delinquencies and upright aspects with the youth.

Resalah: What are your aspirations?

An-Naser: To be a pioneer in giving solutions for whatsoever problems related to youth; conducting unique researches on youth. In addition to giving professional consultations to youth and working on making the youth partake effectively in various development fields.

Resalah: What are your mechanisms to reach these aspirations?

An-Naser: The NCYR has worked out a number of mechanism. They run as follows: conducting strategic studies on future plans for youth; holding conferences and seminars on youth researches; and issuing youth-targeted specialist journals and literatures. Also, they comprise working out manuals and statistical reports on youth; opening communication channels between the young and youth centers; and running training programs to sharpen youth skills.

 

Resalah: Why the NYCR is distinctive?

An-Naser: A number of factors make the NYCR distinctive: it is located on campus of the King Saud University (KSU), which hosts miscellaneous research centers and academic associations, and gives teaching facilities to more than 80.000 students in various branches. The KSU has a pool of highly-qualified researchers and professors in all walks of life. We have members and coordinators at the higher education institutions, and provide an advanced databases, libraries, governmental reports, audio-video multimedia, etc.

 

Resalah: What are the NCYR sought-after outcomes?

An-Naser: Preparing students to contribute actively to various development aspects and driving researchers towards priorities of scientific research on the youth issues. In addition to giving recommendations to the government and officials to face up problems that hinder them to perform their roles in the society. Plus, providing a proper environment to encouraging researchers and postgraduates to run creative youth-focused researches. Finally, cementing relationships between national and international centers specialized in youth researches.
