Program Structure
The program requires four and a half years of full-time study, plus one year of internship. Each year of study comprises two semesters. The duration of each semester averages 16 weeks.
The program includes a balance of basic sciences, clinical practice, and critical/scientific inquiry.
English is the formal language of instruction.
Internship
It is one year of clinical practice through affiliated hospitals, clinics, and/or community situations. During the internship year, the students undertake supervised clinical practice, gain experience related to decision-making, and manage patients in several hospitals settings.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted into the College a student must:
§ Be a citizen of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
§ Fulfill King Saud University Requirements.
§ Pass the entrance written examination.
§ Pass the medical fitness check up.
Different departments of the college of medical sciences at Al-Kharaj
1. Laboratory sciences
The main goal of the Department is to teach Saudi students medical/clinical laboratory sciences. They will be trained and taught different courses in histopathology, Biochemistry, Haematology, Immunology, Bacteriology, Mycology, Virology, Parasitology, Cytology, Genetics, Laboratory
safety etc.
2. Nursing
The department will train students in nursing. They will be trained for different specialties like surgery, medicine, obstrictics and gynaecology, psychiatry etc. They will be taught Histopathology, Physiology, pathology, Basic medicine, Computer, Physics, Radiology and Imaging etc.
3. Radiology and Medical Imaging
The department will provide teaching and training in different aspects of radiology and imaging. Students will be trained in taking and developing different x-ray films. They will be taught histopathology, physiology, pathology, basic medicine, computer, physics, radiology and imaging etc.
4. Physical medicine and rehabilitation
The main goal of the department is to provide academic qualification in physical medicine and rehabilitation. The students will be trained in handling different handicapped patients. They will be taught different subjects like neurology, psychiatry, biochemistry and biological mechanics etc. They will also be trained in different instruments used in physical therapy and rehabilitation.
5. Department of Medical instrumentation
The main goal of the department is to train and provide best skills in different instruments used in different fields of medical sciences. Students will be trained in instruments used in laboratory (like immunology, biochemistry, haematology, histopathology serology etc), Radiology and imaging, ENT department, Physical medicine and rehabilitation etc.
