Overview on the source of professional development in the Kingdom of Saudi ArabiaThe beginning of approval the students of physiotherapy in 1401 in the department of sciences of health rehabilitation…… College of Applied Medical Science, King Saud University.The desire to professional form was dream to all the colleagues in this field and objective, which many people think in it. Its beginning in the middle of 1980s when a group of our foreigner colleagues who work in Riyadh formed group to arrange scientific meeting in narrow field to achieve scientific exchange. Discontinue the activity of that group at the beginning of the first War of Gulf. The members of the group left Kingdom to their countries because of the conditions of the war.The first group of professional form was formed in 1992 whereas group of Saudi specialists and foreigner specialists formed scientific group in military hospital in Riyadh. Within this group the first executive assembly was established under the name "Riyadh physical therapy (R P T G)" Riyadh Group gets the first official confession to practice its activities within the limitation of scientific clubs capacities only. In 1993, the group worked under the scientific assembly for higher studies in King Saudi University and the desire of executive assembly members in Riyadh to cooperate with their colleagues in all Kingdom's areas. The name of the group was changed to be Saudi Physical Therapy Group (SPTG) in 1994.In opposite of this procedures the ambitions of those who work in the profession. In the same year the activity of scientific joint assembly for higher medical studies was suspended in faculty of medicine, but this suspension didn't prevent the members of the group from continuity in their activities in limited filed as scientific club. Then they were joined under Center of higher studies in the faculty of medicine in King Saud University. The group continued in determining its objectives and to form professional form in higher level and with more powers than the facilities of the group which were limited to scientific clubs activities.When the group gets the physical confession from colleagues of medical professional colleagues and the officials which left positive results in its activities in the field of scientific and clinical field and through strengthening the professional relation between colleagues of the profession and enlargement the connection between colleagues of profession in academicals sector and clinical sector which urge the officials in King Saud University to consider the results of the group and cared to get the approval of Scientific assembly in the colleague. Then the approval of assembly of university to establish Saudi Association for physical therapy, which was the beginning of the group.The approval of establishment Saudi Physical Therapy Association by decision of assembly of King Saud University held in 16/11/1421H. , by the virtue 20 of higher education and universities Held in 16/11/1421. By virtue of 2o article of the higher education and universities system and annexation of the previous decision to the decision of scientific assembly in the 29th meeting held in 13 June 2001 to form the temporary committee of the Saudi Association for physiotherapy in the virtue of article (4/2) of the regulations of scientific associations in Saudi Universities. The establishment committee planed the regulations related to establishment Saudi Physical Therapy Association and to establish organizational chart of the board of directors whereas it mentioned in details in the main regulation of the Association. As the result, the committee was formed under the management of: The committee interested in embellishment regulations which arrange the Saudi Association for physiotherapy and to establish organizational chart of board of directors whereas the details were mentioned in main regulation of the association . The members were called to the first meeting of General association of the Saudi Association for physiotherapy. Then the role of founding committee ended and the duties were transferred to administrative board of Saudi Association for physiotherapy.
