The College of Applied Medical Sciences was established in 1396 H. and currently encompasses the following seven academic branches:
* Department of Radiological Sciences
* Department of Community Health Services (which includes Clinical Nutrition, Health Education, Health Care Management and Environmental Health)
* Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences
*Department of Biomedical Technology
* Department of Optometry
* Department of Rehabilitation (including Physiotherapy and Speech/Language and Audiology)
* Department of Dental hygiene (including Dental Technology and Dental Care)
The College is still in the process of opening new specialty departments to fulfill the requirements of the local health care market, including respiratory therapy and occupational therapy. Admission in to these departments will start soon, God willing. In addition to the B.Sc. degree offered by the College in the above mentioned departments, the College offers M.Sc. degree programs in Clinical Lab Sciences, Clinical Nutrition and Physiotherapy.
Since the College aims do not stop at offering academic degrees in different specialties, and it graduates both male and female students in diagnostic, therapeutic, administrative and preventive fields, it also provides other health care services to society. This is done through clinical work that faculty members perform in University hospitals and clinical internships preformed by graduating students. In addition, many faculty members go on lectures and seminars offered to high school students. The faculty also provide consultancy services to both governmental and private institutions, and enjoy numerous research publication in national and international peer reviewed journals. The college has also participated in previous years in different cultural, social and local sporting activities.
On this occasion I take pleasure in thanking my colleagues the faculty members, the University President and all those affiliated with the College for their services to the College in realizing and fulfilling its objectives.
