v     Elemental Micro Analysis Unit (CHN) S/O unit

This unit analyzes different elements like carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen, and it gives the percentages of these elements in organic compounds, macro-organic metallic compounds, clusters and polymers in solid or solution states.  The analysis is obtained by finding the ratio between these elements and the compounds under investigation.  This process is considered to be important in the preliminary study of compounds to identify and determine the ratio of the elements and comparing it with the theoretical calculated ratio.  Accordingly one can determine the chemical formula of the compound and finds the purity of the known compounds.  This unit serves mainly Chemistry, Zoology, Biochemistry departments, in addition to some departments in College of Agriculture and College of Pharmacy.
