Workshop
On Wednesday, 18/11/1428 H, a workshop was arranged to present and discuss the experiences of local as well as international institutions with study plans pertaining to Architecture and Planning. This workshop which was held in the Main Conference Hall of the College, lasted for approx. 2 hours. In addition the meeting’s agenda included discussion of strategies of the College and the alternative conceptual study plans designed by the various committees working on the subject, in light of the institution of the new preparatory year across the board in a number of educational units at the University.
Summer Training
Dean of the College, Professor Abdulaziz Almogren, presented certificates of completion to the students who participated in the summer training program in Italy and Turkey. He emphasized the importance and significance of such training programs, especially outside the Kingdom, as students get exposed to new experiences and cultures which can be extremely beneficial to them.
Dr. Osama Algohary, Head of the Department, welcomed and commented on the experiences of the students in Turkey, while Dr. Mostafa Balilah commended the efforts made during the summer training in Italy. Participating students on both sides presented their work and commented on the experiences gained in both countries.
Academic Accreditation
The Department of Architecture and Building Sciences has paved the way to fulfill the basic requirements for obtaining academic accreditation. A self study was performed, based on the current study plan. The University has selected the Department as one of four departments to apply academic accreditation procedures to it. It is expected to be completed by April 2008.
Invitation
The Department of Architecture and Building Sciences extends its invitation to all faculty members and prominent architectural figures to participate in the architecture studio juries held on the premises during the 14th week (from Saturday to Wednesday) of the academic calendar. Daily starting time is 9:00 am.
Classifieds
The Department of Architecture and Building Sciences is advertising for a number of faculty positions at the assistant, associate and full professor levels. Graduate Studies
The Department is announcing its invitation to those who are interested in applying for graduate studies at both the Master and PhD levels.
Those applying for the Master degree are required to possess a minimum cumulative GPA of “very good” in their undergraduate studies. For application to the PhD program, a minimum cumulative GPA of “excellent” in their master degree is required to be accepted.
