New patterns of urbanization have been emerged due to the rapid growth of urbanization in the cities and regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia but some of these patterns lack the social requirements, environmental applicability and clearly decline of the local urbanization identity.  Hence the need was to establish the Saudi Umran Society as a scientifical society managing the various areas of architectural sciences for the purpose, of creating distinctive model fo the local urbanization environment but in a modern contect and in a way complying with the society requirements.

The society aims at forming a group including all concerned specialists in the urbanization area, planning design, site landscaping, environmental, interior design and other related various fields of knowledge.

The Saudi Umran Society’s object is to promote the urbanization context, to develop the level of its application in the Kingdom and to create better environment through which architectural practices can be performed.  The society exerts efforts to evolving the Islamic Arabian architectural culture through documentation, analysing urbanization as well as other traditional patterns and finding methods to maintain it.  However, promoting cooperation, mutual exchange of ideas among specialists and other various urbanization areas concerned people, providing technical consultance, conducting field studies for imporving the performance in the architectureal fields are further among the society’s objectives.

The society may have to achieve its objective through practicing a set of various activities inclusive scientifical investigations in its field and other relavant knowledge horizons, helding seminars and conferences for discussing related issues, organizing learning sessions and training courses for developing technical skills among members, organizing scientifical contests as well as educational lectures and many other activities and or programs.                                     

The Saudi Umran Society has been vastly developed.  Ten branches, consequently, have been established at Mecca Mukarramah, Madinah Munawwarah, Riyadh, Jeddah, hail, alqassim, alahsaa and abha .  In fact, there is a concern now to inaugurate another branches in other regions of the Kingdom due to the Society’s effort for expanding its services and to the continuous ties with architectural members in all parts of the Kingdom.  There are approximately 1800 members among specialists and other concerned people.  The society aims at increasing such member through a comprehensive introducing plan of its activities and different programs.

Based on the society belief of the importance role to serve the society and the importance of architectural field along with its relation with each individual, the society has initiated its path to develop its activities but to serve the profession and society.

The Saudi Umran Society, therefore, aims at playing a vital efficient role in executing a number of plans and programs that to include buildings development systems in the Kingdom, improving the profession’s environment and its systems, heritage documentation relevant to urbanization and architecture and providing technical consultance in all urbanization fields.

The Saudi Umran Society may be looking forward to establish urbanization, research centres through which developing and processing of architectural and urbanization patterns, methods can be achieved.  Awarding scholarship in the field is also included.  The society intends to establish urbanization information centre to serve scholars, professionals and other concerned people, all related various material in the field such as technical, statistical and institutional information will be available. 

The Saudi Umran Society has the honour to grant its membership to interested people either among the professionals or others from individuals offices and official or private institutions.

However, the society’s membership is divided into functional, professional and upon request in addition to the membership of institutions and commissions.

Members are provided with a variety of social, informative, scientifical and vocational programs as well as services.  Other benefits are provided such as discount in hotels, hospitals, travel agents and others.
