To gain admission to the College of Architecture and Planning, an admission test is administered twice a year; one prior to the new academic year, and the other prior to the second academic term. Objective of the test is to measure a student’s abilities and skills required for architecture and planning. The following skills are measured:
- Ability to draw: whether free hand or mechanical.
- Ability to imagine shapes and drawings: by drawing a student’s home or its surrounding community, or anything that the student is familiar with.
- Ability to put together shapes: by giving students regular and irregular shapes requesting students to organize or complete them.
- Ability to deal with colors: by taking into consideration contrast and harmony.
- Ability to find solutions to simple problems.
The test consists of four parts as follows:
- Free-hand Drawing: the objective is to measure a student’s abilities and skills to draw and show level of creativity.
- Geometric Shapes and Mechanical Drawings: the objective is to measure a student’s abilities to analyze and imagine in two dimensions, to measure precision and propensity towards excellence and patience.
- Coloring: the objective is to measure a student’s abilities to color and properly select colors while being precise.
- Modeling: the objective is to measure manual and art skills and ability to put together masses and compose in two and three dimensions.
