The Section Objectives                                         

The section objectives could be summarized in the following points:

Firstly : Preparing qualified competencies to bear responsibilities of accounting occupation or auditors in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at public or private sectors according to the social requirements.

Secondly : Developing the section's educational program to keep up with the developments in technology means and the expansion in computers usage for operating accounting information systems at the public and private sectors in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Thirdly : Elevating the level of teaching to comply with the section's requirements in the future through stability among the scientific qualified competencies and expanding  appointment among distinguished graduates such as lecturers, and sending them to distinct abroad universities for pursuing their higher education.

Fourthly : Setting up specified program for authorship, publishing, and translation for updating necessary books and reference books, that are belonging to the section's curriculum subjects through encouraging the scientific studies, teaching authorship, increasing of studies and authorship publishing channels, organizing scientific symposium s and conferences,  encouraging the teaching staff members to attend and participate in such events, exchanging scientific visits between teachers in different universities, and developing the section library and providing it with reference books and late periodicals publishing.

Fifthly :  Contribution in the exerted efforts to develop accounting and auditing occupation through cooperation with the occupational official authorities in the field of organizing occupation's practicing.

                                   The Section Achievements                                    

We are going to discuss herein some of the achievements that have been carried out in the section so as to implement the aforementioned objectives:

Firstly : in the domain of preparing the qualified competencies : 
The section provides two studying programs one of them granting the student bachelor degree in accounting, and the other one granting the student scientific master and doctorate in accounting.

- Bachelor Program
This program prepares the student for the accurate major in accounting and for other assistant sciences that required when practicing accounting occupation, such as management, economics, quantitative analyses, and computer applications. Constantly, the section developing its method so as to escort with the late scientific technical developments. The evidence development could be witnessed at creation of subjects such as : selected issues in accounting in English language, using computer in accounting and operations researching in accounting . Therefore, the current program has become competitive to its counterpart programs in other deep-rooted universities.

The program is qualifying students for accounting works in accounting offices and government departments at all ministries as well as  government authorities, business sector units, teaching at institutes and commercial schools in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, also qualifies student to complete their higher studies inside Kingdom or through scholarship  abroad.

- Master program
Accounting section provides a program for higher studies which granting master degree in accounting. This program aims for graduating qualified academic and professionals and encouraging scientific researching in accounting. The program's period of study not leas than two years and not more than four years, and the studying is in English language. The student could obtain master degree when he could pass not leas than total of 24 hours in accounting subjects and at other subjects such as business management, quantitative means, and economics additional of preparing a specialized subject. The student is conditional to pass the comprehensive examination in accounting aspects. 

Secondly : Elevating teaching performance :
Due to the important role of the teaching staff in the development of educational process, has been given an extreme importance to attract the distinguished scientific competencies and employment the distinguished graduates from bachelor and master program for working as lectures and demonstrators within the section. Recently , the section includes an elite group of teaching staff form various accounting schools which could enrich the educational process at teaching performance level.

In the same time the section follows a plan for scholarship for obtaining of master doctorate degree from the British and American universities that have good reputation. Finally this plans achieved its goals when those students returned back after they had obtained the scientific degrees and joining the section's teaching staff.

Thirdly : Domain of symposium s, scientific publishing, and authorship :
The section has adopted the policy of encroaching authorship and scientific research, where, the members of the teaching staff have published their researches at several specialized scientific areas that approved by the scientific council. The section's teaching staff members have also published several books and scientific references to enhance the educational process on the aspects of taxes accounting, advanced accounting, medium accounting, and government accounting and analyzing the financial reports, costs accounting, and accounting information systems.

The section is contributing upon supporting and developing the accounting occupation, therefore the section has organized a chain of symposium s for studying the best way of developing the accounting occupation and auditing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia into which participated several ministries and government bodies representatives, accounting offices, and the academics in Saudi Arabia. The said symposium s came to a set of recommendations for occupation development. The recent symposium is considered as extension for previous symposiums in this field. Teaching staff members have participating into scientific inside and outside Kingdom.

For the purpose of providing books and references to support the teaching staff members researches. Currently, the organizing of section's library is taking place to enhance the library by periodical publishes and scientific references, and the section's computer will be linked to the central information network and to King Abdulaziz City of Science and Technology.

Fourthly : contribution into exerted efforts for developing occupation of accounting and  auditing in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia :
In additional to organizing symposiums and participating into them, the section of accounting is participating into the exerted efforts to develop the methods through which its members could contribute in the board of directors of the Saudi Chartered Accountants Board and the Saudi Association of Accountants and its emerged committees. Most of the members of the section are participating in providing consultants, hold coursed and symposiums for ministries , other governmental authorities, private sector such as that provided through chamber of commerce , social service center at the university, and the Saudi Chartered Accountants Board, etc..

At conclusion we could say that the accounting section instead of its interaction with the  Saudi environment through symposiums , lectures , training courses, and its participating in the exerted efforts for developing the accounting occupation it is also providing the scientific competences for accounting and auditing occupation practicing in the governmental aspects or in the business sector , teaching aspects , and independent professional practicing.
