Preface
The idea of forming the Saudi Management Association arose from the dire need for an institutional entity to accommodate all those concerned with management such as: thinkers, practitioners, and activists in management different fields. This need which was much expressed by the managers in their irregular meetings and symposiums where they gathered without prior arrangement soon turned into audible calls for finding an appropriate framework in which notions, ideas and experience could be exchanged and interact to achieve the objective of upgrading the Saudi management academically as well as technically in order to maintain its distinguished and ever increasing position at the Arab and regional level.
Totally convinced of this idea, the Business Administration Department, Faculty of Management Sciences, King Saud University, which was one of its prominent advocates, took the initiative to present it to Faculty Council in its twenty-first session on 25th Jumada Al Thani, 1400 H. The Council in turn submitted it to the Academic Council which gave its approval on the 13th of Shabaan the next year. Thus, the Saudi Management Association came into existence. At first, it was called the Saudi Management Sciences Association until this name was changed in the Academic Council's 12th Meeting in 1402 H.
Through all these years, the Association, with God's help and the efforts of its consecutive Boards' and active members, was able to develop remarkably on both academic and professional levels and has taken appreciable steps to realize the managers' dream of finding a forum which can speak on their behalf, adopt their problems and express their concerns. The Board of Directors is trying hard to accomplish an achievement after another in different sectors and institutions the Kingdom-wide.
