DPIC RESOURES

The resources are the backbone of the DPIC which are updated regularly in order to keep the latest edition of each item. The center combined varieties of documents belonged to the primary, secondary and tertiary resources. The resources were classified according to the type of information included. Several of these resources were available on computer system. Computer is further used to backup important DPIC documents and for word processing.

A)   Primary information resources:

Contain original reports in the form of clinical trials, survey or regular research paper. The center receives regularly several monthly and bimonthly key biomedical journals, as well as the content of more than 185 biomedical journals recorded in Iowa system.

B)    Secondary information resources:

They are heterogeneous information resources that function as a guide to the Primary literatures. They are indexing and/or abstracting systems which include materials already published in large number of biomedical journals:

C)    Tertiary information resource  

Include general references, textbooks and compendia updated monthly, quarterly, annually or even several years. The center posses the latest edition of each of the following:

Drugdex, Poisondex, Drug Interactions (Computer). Facts & Comparisons, Martindale, USP DI, AHFS DI, Index Nomium, Merck Index, Handbook of Clinical Drug Data, Meyler's Side Effects, Handbook on Injectable Drugs, in addition to several textbooks and general referenced cover areas such as: pharmacology, pathophysiology, therapeutics and medicine.
