FACILITIES
Randomly collected plants are identified and allotted a specimen voucher number and deposited in herbarium for future reference. Authenticated plant material are first dealt with at phytochemistry laboratory in order to establish process parameters which will eventually help designing the scale-up work, mostly on biological activity guided pattern.
Analytical testing and instrumental analysis laboratories are equipped with modern equipments such as gas-liquid chromatograph (GLC or GC), high pressure liquid chromatographs (HPLC), thin layer chromatography (TLC) system, centrifugal radial tic, droplet counter current chromatograph (DCCC) systems, Ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) spectrophotometer, infrared (IR) spectrophotometer, gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry (GC/MS) system, refractrometer, polarimeters, atomic absorption spectrometer, crystallograph, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer, coulter counter and lipholizer. Furthermore, physiographs (student and research models), and biochemical analyzers including many more instruments used in pharmacological, biochemical, toxicological and microbiological studies. The center has access to database network, Medline and internet, as well as, to two specialized libraries rich in scientific periodicals and journals.
Medicinal Plants Garden with an area of 5,000 sq. meters has three green houses, is easily accessible.
