RESEARCH

The Center has carried out fundamental and advanced research on local flora. It is engaged in phytochemical and biological screening. It standardized a large number of experimental models in laboratory animals to confirm the claimed properties of the medicinal plants and crude drugs.

Four big national level research projects sponsored by King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Riyadh, were undertaken:

1. "Phytochemical and Biological Evaluation of Saudi Plants". "Scientific Evaluation of Merits and Demerits of Crude Drugs used in Saudi Folk Medicine".
2. "Evaluation of Khat (Catha edulis): A Substance of Abuse".
3. "Pharmacological and Pathological Evaluation of Spices on Experimentally Induced Peptic Ulcer in Laboratory Animals".
