Chair of Research
The department has suggested a research chair deals with herbal medicine to be as starting point. Objectives of the chair could be documentation of medicinal plants that are used in Saudi Arabia in order to prepare data bases for those plants and study their activities in a proper scientific way. The department of pharmacognosy is able to achieve such aim due to presence of a group of faculties with long experience in herbal medicine and phytochemistry. Other than that, the department cultivates graduate programs of master and philosophy beside its strong background in plants' scientific research. Furthermore, the department has a good collaboration with local and abroad institutes in many fields including medicinal plants' research.
