Dear Participants,

On behalf of the Saudi Society for Earth Sciences, the Faculty of Science and King Saud University, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the first meeting of the Saudi Society for Earch Sciences.

I hope that this meeting and others to come will provide us an apportunity to exchange our geologic thoughts and ideas.

The papers on the various aspects of Earth Sciences which will be discussed will make valuable contributions to the success of this meeting, and add a drop to the scientific progress of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

I want to thank King Saud University, the members of the Saudi Society for Earth Sciences, the College of Sciences, the organizing, the information and the scientific committees.

Thanks to King Saud University Printing Press for their cooperation and efforts, and finally we appreciate all those who contribute in accomplishing various arrangements of the meetings and finally special thanks to the Ministry of Defence (survey department), the Ministry of Petroleum (survey department), Saudi Aramco and Jarir Bookstore for their support of the Saudi Society for Earth Sciences.­
