The department of mathematics was established in 1958. It considered one of the earlier established departments at the university and is one of the biggest in terms of the number if its faculty and the services it offers.

There are more than 50 faculty members in the department of all ranks (professors, associate professors and assistant profe-ssors). more

Dr. Mohammed S. Mahmoud the professor of mathematics department was selected among the Islamic conference Encyclopedia which includes more than 400 scientists all over the Islamic world.

Dr. Mosaad A. Alabdullatif promoted to an associative professor at the mathematics department.

Dr. Ibtesam O. Bajunaid the assistant professor of the mathematics department nominated to join the Fullbright Fellowship program for the academic year 2008-2009.

Dr. Haila Mohammed Alodan the assistant professor at mathematics department was appointed as a vicedean of deanship of registration and admission.
