Welcome to the webpage of the College of Science. We’re pleased you’re
visiting this site and hope you will find it informative and useful. The College aims to make valuable contributions to the Kingdom’s scientific, technological, and economic sectors through the research activities of faculty and graduate students.
The College of Science was established in 1958, one year after the founding of King Saud University. The College began with six departments: geology, zoology, botany, physics, chemistry, and mathematics. In the beginning, the College had few students and a small number of lectures halls and laboratories. In keeping with the growth of the university at large, the College has witnessed considerable progress in many respects. The number of departments has increased, laboratories have improved, and the College now attracts a large number of students.
In regard to research, the College departments and the research center are undergoing wide-ranging changes in all our research strategies for the immediate future. The College aims to solve industrial, technical, and environmental problems. We are establishing specialized centers including one in biological studies and environmental preservations, another in nanotechnology research, and another in biological technology in collaboration with the College of Food and Agriculture. In addition, the College is establishing endowed chairs in environmental and biological fields.
