Effect of storage and temperature on pollen germination and rate of pollen tube elongation of date palm

Ali A. Alhelal, M. O. Basalah and Sher Mohammed, ÖYTON 48 (1/2):119-122, V 1988.

The in virto, germination of date palm pollen is a function of temperature. The hightest percentage of germination and the maximum rate of pollen tube elongation occurred at 30 C and no germination occurred at 10 C.

Pollen stored for a year at either room temperature or at 4 C lost viability, while those stored at 0 C had low percentage of germination but pollen tube obtained high rate of elongation.
