About Majmaah province
AL Majma'ah lies in the North of Riyadh and it is one of Riyadh region provinces. Majma'ah city is the largest in the province and it is about 180 Km from Riyadh city and surrounded from the south by Thadiq province, and from the west by Shagrah province and from north west by AL Ghat and Zulfi provinces and from North east by Hafre AL Batin province and from the east by AL Dahna desert and from South east by Rimah province.
AL Majma'ah History:
The history of AL Majmaah began in the year(820H)(1417AD) when Abdul Allah Ibn Mazyad AL Shammari AL Mibar ,from Shammar tribe, built Majma'ah city, he was at that time a retinue of Hussein Ibn Madlaj Ibn Hussein the head of AL Twaim municipality. When Hussein died, Abdu Allah requested Hussein son, Ibrahim, in Harma village to grant him a land for him and his offspring for farming and residence and he granted him AL Majmaah village, after wards Ibrahim and his offspring advised AL Shammari to settle in the north side of Harma and he did so. This side was on (AL Hadrat Road-AL Hadrat means caravans) which was a strategic road then Ibrahim Ibn AL Shammari requested to return to his former area(AL Majma'ah) where he settled and other people began to gather there in and from that time it was called AL Majma'ah .
Mr Abdul Allah Ibn Khamis mentioned in Yamama dictionary "AL Majmaah was named after the gathering of valleys, especially the valley of Meshgar and its branches and the valley of AL Kalb".
Synopsis about AL Majma'ah city:
The population of AL Majmaah is about 60,000 including citizens and residents. The number of districts in Majma'ah is about (12) and the number of residential units is about 4497. This city is considered the largest and the most significant city in the province and it is the commercial and administrative centre, it was founded in (820 H). AL Majma'ah includes all the central government agencies of the province and has some branches in other villages in the province:
AL Majma'ah has strategic position for it lies by the highway road of Riyadh, Quassim-AL Madina from south to north west, this road is crossed with the highway road Hafr AL Batin, Kuwait, Mecca from east to the west and this gives AL Majma'ah strategic importance since there are thousands of people go to Hajj and Omrah via AL Majma'ah per year coming from the south and east of the Kingdom and from Oman, Emirates, Kuwait, Iraq ,Iran and many other Islamic countries.
There are many university colleges in AL Majma'ah such as:
1. Community college (King Saud University).
2. Technical College.
3. College of Education (Girls).
The following colleges will be established next year:
1. Engineering College.
2. Medical applied Sciences College.
3. Higher Technical Institute for Women.
Some of the Touristic sites in the province:
There are many archeological sites in the province such as the watchtower (Mirghab) on Manikh mount, and AL Oalah archeological sites (Magsourah) and the Cave of Alia and Abi Zaid, cemetery of Bani Hilal in Washi , Naslah and Qarif besides some ancient clayey houses that exemplify the authentic art of building in Najd region in addition to the ancient towers and loges that lie by the ancient walls of the city such as Hawashiah, Bab AL Bar, Bab AL Qantarah, Rabi'ah archeological house and the school of Seikh/Ahmed AL Sani'i and the ancient mosque and market.
AL Majma'ah province is famous for its surrounding farms and meadows that are considered resorts for the citizens and visitors in spring season when these sites are covered with grass, plants and flowers in addition to the flood water in the valleys and lower sites that add to the beauty of these places .
The most important of these places are Hattabah meadow in the north west of Majma'ah, Bina, Nakheel, Ammar, Qulaib meadows in the north east of Majma'ah and Khafisa, Matraba, Sadha'a, Nazeem and Zibda in the east side of Majma'ah and Miazir in the north of Majma'ah and Mizaira'a, Hamada meadows in the west of Majma'ah and Juway in the south east, and Kuzaima in the west, also the sites include Khashm, Shawki east of Timair and Abi Katoor mount, and the valleys of Wirat, Abu AL Miah, Jirab and Bagar valley, the sites near AL Artawiya include : Om Hijoul, Ghiana and Shawki-meadows.
