Postgraduate Dental Education in the College is open to applicants who hold the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree of King Saud University or its equivalent and who must have spent at least one year in clinical dentistry after the mandatory internship year. All applicants must normally have attained in their undergraduate studies a minimum grade point average (GPA) of B (ie. "Very Good"). A student with a GPA of less than "Very Good" in the undergraduate studies or the internship year may under exceptional circumstances be conditionally accepted into the program. There is presently no provision for part-time in the program.
ADMISSION PROCEDURES
The admission and registration procedures are in accordance with Section Two Articles X to XIII of the "Statutes and Regulations of the College of Graduate Studies" of 1410 AH. In addition, each of the specialties requires all or a combination of written examination, oral examination and any other assessment method. Final selection of suitable candidates reflects all these considerations.
A prospective graduate student shall apply directly to the College of Graduate Studies of the University. The applicant must indicate in the application form the dental specialty in which he or she expects to get a Certificate of Clinical Competence.

Submit the filled application form with all the required relevant documents directly to the College of Graduate Studies between the beginning of the third and the end of the seventh weeks of the second half of the academic year preceding the one in which admission is sought.
ADMISSION AS A TRANSFER STUDENT
This shall be governed by the "Transfer Regulations" Section Seven Article XXIII of the 1410 AH "Statutes and Regulations" of the College of Graduate Studies. Transfer from one specialty to the other within the postgraduate dental program shall not normally be allowed. The design of the specialty and advanced specialty courses does not plan for transfers "within". However, the Postgraduate Dental Education Board of the College which oversees all the programs in the College may permit consideration of such transfers under unusual circumstances and on a case-by-case basis.
ACADEMIC REGULATIONS
Since the College is administratively and physically an integral part of the University, it is governed by all those general academic regulations clearly spelt out by the College of Graduate Studies. They pertain to timely and late registration, adding and dropping of courses, withdrawal and leave of absence, attendance, examination and grading, cancellation of enrollment, financial aids, research prospectus, Thesis preparation and defence. A graduate student must be very familiar with these statutes and regulations of the College of Graduate Studies.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
To obtain a Master's degree in Dentistry of the University, a student must satisfy the following requirements.

Complete all the required courses approved by the College of Graduate Studies.

Complete all the specialty (professional) courses approved by the College of Dentistry.

Complete an approved research, prepare a Thesis from the research and satisfactorily defend same at a Thesis examination conducted by an approved Thesis Examination Committee.

Be eligible for the award of a Certificate of Clincial Competency.
