Dr. Thakib Shalan, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs
I would like to welcome you to the College of Dentistry web site. College of Dentistry is the first Dental College in the Arabian Gulf region. It has been led by distinguished colleagues who planned and worked hard and the results of their work are clear. My deep thanks to everyone who worked in this college for the tremendous efforts and valuable time they spent in the college.
College of Dentistry has two buildings: one in the main KSU campus beside King Khalid University Hospital (Male students building). The other one is located in Riyadh center beside King Abdulaziz University Hospital (Female students building). Students are enrolled in the college after they complete the one-year-preparatory courses (premedical program). The selection of the students is based on their GPA. In addition to the preparatory year, the student spends five years in the college as well as complete one-year-internship program before he/she is granted the BDS degree.
Since its establishment, the college graduated dentists, dental assistants, and dental technicians. In addition, the college through its graduate programs has graduated specialists in different dental specialties. Undoubtedly, the college's clinics have contributed in the integration of dental education process, providing many opportunities for student training, skill development and practical experience, while complementing theoretical science.
Finally, I hope that the College will continue this progress and I trust that the achievement in many different fields will be the result of the education and commitment of our students.
We, as the dental college’s staff, are aiming and working to provide our students with an excellent dental education.
Dr. Ra'ed Al Sadhan, Vice Dean for Administrative Affairs
The College of Dentistry by the grace of Allah and the wealth and welfare made available by the Saudi Government was able to build the most modern buildings and facilities of highest standards to give quality education and to provide dental health care for the citizens of the kingdom.
In the previous years, the College has been dependent on the workforce of different nationalities both teaching and auxiliary personnel, but currently most of the employees of the College was shifted in favor of the Saudi national’s who have acquired higher degrees and specialist training in all fields of education fulfilling the College’s manpower needs.
As the world is changing rapidly and the computer will continue to revolutionize dental practice, the administrations with the help of the available modern and advanced technology will continue to give the highest standard of education to provide the best oral health care services to the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Walid Sadig, Vice Dean for Quality & Development
Quality assurance has several definitions. One of the important ones is achieving excellence and due diligence. Without those two, the wheel of development will be hampered and sluggish.
In this era, we have witnessed astonishing developments all over the world and there is a reality we have to face it, that is integration with new world by speaking its language. This requires from us to speak the language of knowledge, excellence and competition.
For that purpose the College of Dentistry with the support of the University gave the issue of quality very close attention. Where in just one year three (3) workshops about quality and accreditation were organized in the school premises.
We are looking forward to organize more intensive courses on quality assurance and quality improvement in the future. The objective of which is to increase the awareness of everybody in the school about the importance of quality issue.
