Curr. 595 Research Seminar in Curriculum Physical Education           

                                                                                               3 hours  

This course aims to make the students understand the different dimension of physical education program and make them able to develop their programs according to the new trends and changes. The students can in this seminar work on designing the physical education programs in Arab Countries in general and in Saudi Arabia in particular. The course also includes discussions about the latest development in physical education programs and put them in the newest shape according to the circumstances of Saudi society.

 

PE.500  Philosophy and Trends in Physical

Education and Sport Sciences                                                       3 hours        

This course aims to identify the philosophy and trends in physical education and sport sciences, especially the new of them. This will be done through discussing the subjects related to the profession state and its future, in addition to other philosophical issues like the professional labeling, the fine specialization, the partial intellectual knowledge in physical education and sports sciences, and the differences of interests … etc with emphasis upon the issues related to the profession in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

 

PE. 514 Motor Development                                                                                                                                         3 hours

This course aims to identify the effect of genetic and environmental factors upon the development and maturity process, and their effects on the learning of motor skills. This course includes also studying the effect of social and civilized factors upon the motor development, the characteristics of early motor behavior through the different ages, the psyco-motor development  and the morophological changes related to physical activities through out the different phases of life.

 

PE. 518 Seminar in Sport Psychology                                                                       3 hours

Advanced study of the importance and nature of psychological effects of physical activity. This course aims to identity the new thank in sport psychology, and get acquainted with the studies of psychological, social and psycho-physiological related to physical activities. The course content includes also studying the personality and sport, attention and concentration, intellectual imagination, stress and stimulation, knowledge methodology, biological reaction, social feedback, sport agression, in addition to the different measurements used in sport psychology.

 

PE. 522  Administration of Physical Education and Sport        

                                                                                                3 hours

Studying the theoretical and applicable administration sides in physical education and sport in the following: setting planes, leadership theories, changing strategies, individual evaluation, administrative scheme, follow up means in local organizations, directors responsibilities and the problem they are facing, professional preparation for administrative people, planning budget. In addition to the attitudes towards the indoor and outdoor activities in physical educations and sport.

 

PE. 535 Seminar in Motor learning                                                      3 hours

Advanced study for the new trends and subjects in motor and control learning. This will include identifying the results of research in the area of motor conceptual learning for motor skills, especially for their learning steps, motor and control learning theories, learning skills, motor memory, individual differences, transfer learning, identifying results, distribution of training time, as well as methods of measuring motor performance.

 

PE. 536 Seminar in Nutrition and Human Performance           3 hours

This course aims to give the student the most advanced knowledge in nutrition and physical performance through reviewing subjects related to sport nutrition, meal before competition, carbohydrate loading, sugar liquid, vitamins, minerals, dopping and physical performance.

 

PE. 539 Seminar in Biomechanics                                                                                                       3 hours

This course aims to make the student able to understand the anatomical and biomechanical principles of motion. It includes studying the biomechanical analysis for motor skills and movements using the cinematic photographics and the power measurement, linear analysis, mechanics to sport shoe, and other related subject.

 

 

PE. 540 Seminar in Adapted Physical Education                       3 hours

This course aims to give the student the basic and necessary knowledge for planning, preparation, and application of special physical education programs for different handicapped population. It includes studying nature and degree of impairment through out all the developmental stages of school age, and its effect upon the individual motor performance. The course will also contain some models for special population sports and their rules of implication.

 

PE. 545  Seminar in Coaching                                                                                     3 hours

This course aims to make the students understand the scientific concepts of coaching athletes and sport teams towards the complete physical and skillful preparation. It includes reviewing for the related research studies in the area of training methods, diagnosing the suitable load, planning of training programs, and the factors prohibit the different coaching methods.

 

PE. 550 Laboratory Procedures in Exercise Physiology             2 hours

This course aims to make the student gets the fundamental basic skills to run the laboratory experiments related to the exercises physiology. It includes experiments in aerobic and an unaerobic abilities, muscular strength, muscular endurance, body composition, and the respiratory, cardio vascular system, in addition to the physical stress, and its biochemical factors.

 

PE. 552 Neuromuscular System and Exercise                           3 hours      

This course aims to study the neuromuscular system, especially, related to training and physical stress. It includes studying the motor nerves and neurological signals transmission, motor units, self receptors, neurological control of movement, muscle characteristics and contractious muscles fibers, and its role in physical performance, muscular strength and endurance, muscle hypoatrophy, muscle sorness, biochemicals energy of muscles, in addition to the physical training and neuromuscular adaptation.

 

PE. 553 Cardiovascular System and Exercise                                3 hours

Myocardium/ Heart electrical conduction/ control of heart during exercise/ cardiac cycle / cardiac output/ ejection fraction/ venous return/ Frank-Starling Law/Pre-and After load/ blood flow and exercise/ Baroreceptors and blood pressure response and adaptation to exercise / Arterio-venous O2 diff./ VO2 max and sports/ oxygen pulse/ anaerobic threshold/ coronary circulation and exercise / Blood volume and components and exercise / athlete’s heart/ sudden cardiac death and sport/ effect of altitude on cardio-respiratory system during exercise/ bed rest, deconditioning and macrogravity and cardiorespiratory system/ cardiovascular adaptation to exercise and training.

 

PE. 556 Exercise Testing and Prescription                                  2 hours      

This course aims to make the student get the necessary skills for performing the systematical stress test with its precautions.

It also includes studying the advantages of multi-testing system and its disadvantages, as well as how to put the exercise prescription for the health and physical fitness promotion to all the purpose different population of society. It contains in addition, identifying the necessary methods of observing the physical training intensity.

 

PE. 560  Seminar in Health and Physical Fitness                           3 hours

In this course the student will study advanced subjects in health and physical fitness including: definition, health importance of physical activities, common life diseases, obesity, weight control, and physical fitness programs.

 

PE. 565 Measurement and Evaluation in Physical Education                         

                                                                                                                        3 hours

This course aims to make the student able to know the general principles and advanced means for measuring and evaluation in physical education. Also, it includes applicable models for measuring the different physical education areas. In addition to some applicable experiments in developing and reviewing the tests in the different educational organization. The course has also an especial emphasis on the tests designing and evaluation means of materials and tools used in measuring.

 

PE. 590 Independent Study in Physical Education                                                3 hours

In this course, the student will study an advanced theme in one of the subjects related to his interests in any of physical education areas. This course is also requires to prepare a research study either theoretical or applicable in a theme which meets his interests.

 

PE. 591 Independent Study in Movement Sciences                                                2 hours

In this course, the student will be studying an advanced theme in one of the movement sciences areas. It also includes preparing theoretical or applicable research study on a subject chosen by the student related to his major interests.

 

PSY 502 Research Methods                                                                                                                   3 hours

This course aims to identify the research programs in behavior sciences, and to develop the necessary skills to work on research studies related to the student area of interest. This could be done by reviewing the common research methods in behavior sciences. Also working on the scientific research steps in particular, starting with choosing problem and ending with discussing the study results and recommendations.

 

PSY. 503 Educational Statistics                                                                                  3 hours

This course aims to form a general idea about the statistical analysis. In addition to make the student have the necessary skills to choose the best method suitable for the collected data through reviewing some of the statistical analysis methods. Also, includes how the student can project these methods and when can he use each of them in a suitable way, as well as knowing the advantage  and disadvantages of every method.
