Industrial Engineering (IE) is concerned with analysis, design and implementation of the integrated production systems. A major distinction between IE and other Engineering disciplines is that, in IE the students consider not only the action of machines or systems that are affected by physical laws but also the integration between system's elements (people, materials, equipment and energy). Applications of IE are in industrial, manufacturing, service, and many governmental sectors.

Our graduates are working for companies such as AEC, SABIC, ARAMCO, Saudi American Bank, SEC, STC, ALSALAM, and,.., the list goes on. 

The demand for industrial engineers is increased over the past few years and is expected to continue in the future. Since IE is only engineering discipline with significant training in planning and management, it provides a route to upper management in organizations.

 The IE Department at KSU has 17 faculty members, over 450 undergraduate students and over 30 graduate students. To provide a better learning atmosphere for IE students and faculty, the department administration, offices, classes and labs are moved to new location in COE, in 2007. The IE Department has six labs with equipped with modern facilities and machines including CNC mill, CNC lathe, Robots, CMM, WEDM, EDM, FMS, and several computer software and tools.

The IE at KSU offers high quality education in the field of Industrial Engineering. At undergraduate level, IE offers BS in Industrial Engineering with the following concentration: Manufacturing systems Engineering, Industrial Systems and Human Factor Engineering. The IE department also offers MS degree in Industrial Engineering.

Faculty members of IE Department are running strong commitment to research. Many research projects are funded. Recently, 3-November 2007, new Research Chair is established and funded by Prince Abdullah Bin Mosaad (Research Chair of Princess Fatimah H. T. Alnajras) in the field of Advanced Manufacturing Technology.
