The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) at King Saud University, Riyadh was established as an independent department in 2002 G. In fact the history of this department dates back to the year 1983 G, when it was established as a separate program under the umbrella of the Mechanical Engineering Department. The IE program has been in existence since 1983.
The missions of the Department of Industrial Engineering are:
ü Offer a high quality and up-to-date program which prepares students for successful professional careers
ü Meet the need of both service and manufacturing industries in the Kingdom for industrial engineers having the knowledge and ability to design, integrate and optimize productive systems.
The teaching and research activities of the department are directed by faculty members having a diverse body of research expertise in applied operations research, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, maintenance, quality control and ergonomics. Currently, the department offers a Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree (with and without thesis). The department is also well equipped with several laboratories to support the research and teaching activities.
