Under support from King Abdullah Institute for nanotechnology, King Abdul-Aziz City for Science and Technology, and the Nuclear Research Laboratory of MIT, Dr Alammar of the Mechanical Engineering Department has completed a nanofluid research at the Nuclear Research Laboratory of MIT. In this research, It was found that oxide-based nanofluids are less effective in heat transfer enhancement compared to nanofluids based on pure elements. When taking into account pressure drop, it was found that nanofluids based on Graphite can be most effective. For a fixed the volume of flow, all nanofluids showed an increase in heat transfer with the increase of colloids in water.
